What to Expect in Therapy

Learning new ways to exist in the world, examining subconscious belief systems, and healing an overactive or burnt out nervous system takes time, willingness, and commitment.

This is an investment you are making in yourself.

Trauma-informed therapy is based on 5 guiding principles: Safety, Choice, Collaboration, Empowerment and Trustworthiness.

We will move at your pace and your level of safety. For those who grew up with instability, unpredictability, or in households with addictions or abuse, you may not be in touch with what it feels like to be safe or out of a state of hyper-vigilance, that is completely okay. This is a great place to start.

Frequency, Rates & Insurance

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration held at the same time each week. I meet with clients once a week or twice weekly, depending on need.

I offer extended, 75 or 90-minute sessions as both a regular option, or as-needed for when we are in the desensitization and reprocessing phases of EMDR.

If you know you need time to warm up and build trust, more time gives that more space to happen and 75-minute sessions might be right for you. Additionally, meeting more frequently, can also support faster relationship building, which ultimately provides the groundwork to go deeper.
